Mississauga, Ont., to host 2017 World Ringette Championships

OTTAWA – Mississauga, Ont., was announced as the host of the 2017 World Ringette Championships on Thursday.

The event will be held from Nov. 27 to Dec. 3, 2017 at Iceland Arena.

“We are very excited that the next World Ringette Championships will be hosted in Canada and are confident that Mississauga will make our sport proud,” said Frances Losier, director of high performance and events for Ringette Canada. “We have been focusing our efforts on high performance ringette in Canada and we look forward to witnessing our Canadian teams hitting the ice next Fall.”

Participating teams are still being finalized, but at this time seven national teams are confirmed — senior national teams from Canada and Finland will compete for the senior title in the Sam Jacks Series, while junior national teams from Canada and Finland will compete for the junior title.

Senior national teams from Czech Republic, Sweden and the United States will compete in the President’s Pool. Following the last event in Helsinki, Finland, Canada holds the junior world title and Finland holds the senior world title.
