HONOLULU – The Latest on a Maui woman charged with murder for crash that killed her twin sister (all times local):

A prosecutor says a Maui woman charged with murder in a crash that killed her twin sister was trying to leave the state before police arrested her.

Maui Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Emlyn Higa says police arrested Alexandria Duval on Friday because authorities had information she was trying to flee.

A judge on Monday ordered Duval to remain held without bail.

Police say Duval was driving a Ford Explorer last week when it plunged 200 feet off a cliff. Her identical twin, Anastasia Duval, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Prosecutors say Alexandria Duval intentionally caused her sister’s death.

Higa says witnesses saw them arguing before the crash and that the passenger was pulling the driver’s hair. Higa says witnesses saw the vehicle accelerate and then take a sharp left over the cliff.

A Maui woman who was driving a vehicle when it plunged off a Maui cliff is charged with murder in the death of her twin, who was in the passenger’s seat.

Prosecutors say Alexandria Duval, who is also known as Alison Dadow, intentionally caused the death of her sister, Anastasia Duval, also known as Ann Dadow.

The 37-year-old sisters were travelling on Hana Highway when their Ford Explorer crashed into a rock wall last week. Police say the Explorer fell about 200 feet.

Anastasia Duval was pronounced dead at the scene. Her sister was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Alexandria Duval was arrested Friday. She’s scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Hawaii News Now reports witnesses saw the women arguing and that the passenger was pulling the driver’s hair.
