Former Castanet news director killed working on car

WEST KELOWNA – A well-known reporter and videographer has died in an accident at his home in West Kelowna.

RCMP say they were called to the home of Trevor Rockliffe, 54, in Shannon Ridge at about 2:55 p.m., Friday, June 12.

“He was doing some kind of work on a vehicle,” Cpl. Bob Courcelles says. “It appears the jack gave out and pinned him under the vehicle.”

Courcelles says the investigation into the accident will be handled by B.C. Coroner’s Service.

Rockliffe worked for CTV and Shaw as a videographer before becoming the news director at Castanet, a job he left last year. He also spent time working on the reality TV show Highway Thru Hell, according to his Facebook page.

He had been working as freelance video journalist and most recently covered the Cisco Road Wildfire near Lytton.

Rockliffe leaves behind his wife Colleen Rockliffe and four children.

Colleen says on her husband's Facebook page a celebration of life is being planned.
