BERLIN – German police say a highway rest area was shut down after officers found possible explosives in a car that had been pulled over in a routine traffic stop.
Germany’s dpa news agency reported that the car was stopped on the A3 highway near Rohnbrunn on Sunday afternoon. The officers determined that one of the four men inside was wanted on a European warrant and arrested him.
They found the materials suspected of being explosives while searching the vehicle and closed the rest area as a precaution while experts evaluated the find.
The other three men were taken into temporary custody.
No further details were immediately available. Police would not disclose the offence alleged in the European arrest warrant.
