PESHAWAR, Pakistan – A Pakistani police official says a roadside bomb has killed a policeman and wounded seven civilians in the northwestern city of Peshawar.
Haroon Khan says the bomb went off on Thursday, close to the policeman who was on duty outside the house of a local judge. Khan says one of the wounded people is in critical condition.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Peshawar is the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan. The region has been riddled with Islamic militancy for over a decade.
Militants have killed tens of thousands of Pakistanis in their terror campaign aimed at overthrowing the government and installing their own harsh brand of Islam.
