PENTICTON — They've been shouting it to the world from the comfort of their computer chairs since the internet became a household tool and now the wine bloggers of the world have an official day in Penticton.
Acting mayor Garry Litke recently proclaimed June 6 as Wine Bloggers Day in the city as more than 200 citizen and industry wine bloggers and social media professionals prepare to descend upon Penticton for their annual conference and awards ceremony from June 6 to 8.
"Penticton is in the heart of wine country, the ideal base for visiting the best of B.C. wineries and enjoying Canada's largest wine-growing area," said Litke during his proclamation.
He continued, touting B.C. wines as very high quality and noting agriculture and the wine industry contribute significantly to the local, regional and provincial economy.
Many on the list of attendees herald from B.C. including the Okanagan, but attendees will come from all over North America and as far away as South Africa.
