MEXICO CITY – Mexican authorities say armed men opened fire at a baseball field in a central town, killing two people and wounding six.
Prosecutors in the central state of Puebla say witnesses reported that armed men drove onto the field during a game and began shooting in the town of Acatzingo on Sunday.
A 37-year-old man died at the scene, and a 22-year-old man died on his way to the hospital.
The Puebla prosecutor’s office said in a statement that investigators were looking into possible motives.
Acatzingo is in an area that has largely been spared the worst of the drug cartel-fueled violence afflicting other parts of Mexico.
