North Carolina man gets 14 years on multiple drug charges

GREENVILLE, N.C. – A North Carolina man was sentenced Monday to 14 years in prison on multiple drug charges for which he pleaded guilty in May, federal prosecutors said.

In 2018, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office received information that Jackson was selling large amounts of crack cocaine and cocaine. A traffic stop found Jackson in possession of marijuana, crack cocaine, cocaine, Xanax pills, money and two cellphones. Jackson admitted that he had been selling crack cocaine for more than four months, court records said.

That December, law officers observed Jackson speeding in Brunswick County, authorities said. Jackson stopped, causing agents to use evasive manoeuvrs to avoid a collision. Jackson was apprehended by officers after he stopped the car and tried to flee on foot, and he admitted that he has been selling cocaine.

A department spokesman didn’t immediately respond to a question regarding what happened to Jackson after those traffic stops.

In February 2019, agents were at a gas station in Shallotte where they smelled marijuana from a nearby vehicle by which Jackson was standing, court records said. Jackson drove off, tried to elude officers and was seen throwing crack cocaine, cocaine and marijuana from the vehicle before he was arrested.
