KINGSLAND, Ga. – A Georgia police officer has turned himself in after authorities obtained arrest warrants stemming from the June 20 shooting death of a man who fled a vehicle during a traffic stop.
Kingsland Police Officer Zechariah Presley surrendered Wednesday to the Camden County Sheriff’s Office. He faces one count each of voluntary manslaughter and violation of oath of office. Bond information and whether he was represented by an attorney were not immediately available.
Preliminary information indicates Presley was following a vehicle that stopped at an intersection when the driver and passenger ran. Presley pursued the driver, later identified as 33-year-old Anthony Marcel Green. When Presley caught up with him, police say, an altercation occurred and Presley fired multiple shots, striking Green.
The passenger hasn’t been located or identified.
