B.C. man to appear in court charged with second-degree murder of his wife

SURREY, B.C. – Homicide detectives in Surrey, B.C., have arrested and charged a 44-year-old man with the second-degree murder of his wife.

Rizig Bona was charged Oct. 19 with the slaying of 42-year-old Anida Magaya.

She was found dead in a Surrey home on Oct. 5.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has not said how she died.

A release from homicide team spokesman Cpl. Frank Jang says police quickly determined her injuries were consistent with a homicide, and that the case was isolated and did not pose a risk to public safety.

Jang says Bona is due to appear in provincial court on Monday.
