KAMLOOPS – Public transit could be available on statutory holidays like Christmas Day if a Kamloops councillor has his way.
Coun. Donovan Cavers submitted a motion that would see transit available on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Christmas.
Cavers says there isn’t transit service on only three days out of the year.
"As 30 per cent of the city’s population does not drive, we are effectively isolating people who rely on transit them from their families and friends during the holidays," he says.
He also says transit services all-year round will “enhance the attractiveness and marketability of the system to potential new transit riders.”
Cavers’ motion will be discussed Nov. 17 during the regular council meeting.
