Take dad for a race, fishing trip or car show this weekend

Thinking of getting dad something special for Father's Day?

Over at the Kelowna Mercedes-Benz dealership you'll find a set of wheels worth scoping out. A custom-built black Lexus LFA is one of only ten released in Canada. The rare hand-built sports coupe that tops out at 326 kilometers an hour cost just over $1,000,000 to make.

But one lucky driver can have the "super car" for a market price of just $489,995. If you are checking it out, look—but don't touch.

If you're on a smaller budget, you can still treat dad to a car show. Boyd's Father's Day Car Show kicks off at 11 a.m. at City Park this Sunday. The event offers something for all ages, with a bouncy castle, face painting, silent auction and hot food. All the money raised from the event is being donated to the Cops for Kids charity.

A bit earlier on Sunday morning, crowds will be headed to the Mission Creek Greenway for the B.C. Prostate Cancer Foundation Father's Day Walk/Run. It's a chance to get some exercise while helping the foundation reach its goal of raising $1,000,000 for cancer research. Kelowna is one of 15 Canadian cities hosting the event.

If you're looking for a slower pace acitivity for the whole family the "Go Fish" program at Hall Pond and Shannon Lake gives kids under the age of 15 a chance to catch a rainbow trout – without a fishing license. Roads, reels and bait are provided between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Hall Pond is located in Mission Creek Park and there is also special fishing area at Shannon Lake Regional Park.  

And if you happen to need a car wash you can hang out with firefighters at the Joe Rich Community Hall at 11481 Highway 33. There will be a pancake breakfast too, by donation, helping to raise funds for the department to purchase emergency medical equipment.
