Vernon RCMP volunteers begin holiday Lock Out Auto Crime patrols

Vernon RCMP volunteers will begin their holiday Lock Out Auto Crime Operations this week.

The volunteers will be checking vehicles in parking lots throughout Vernon and completing a Crime Prevention Notice identifying key areas where drivers can improve or eliminate the opportunity for a crime to take place.

The program is operated in conjunction with the City of Vernon, ICBC and the North Okanagan RCMP, and is designed to raise public awareness and reduce crime through education and presence.

RCMP Volunteers can be identified by their high-visibility yellow jackets with “RCMP Volunteer” on the back and the RCMP crest on the front. They will be happy to speak to vehicle owners regarding making their vehicles less appealing to thieves.

For more information, contact Regan Borisenko, Crime Prevention Coordinator, Community Safety Unit, by calling 250-550-7847 or by email at rborisenko@vernon.ca.
