Moose on the loose at Lake Tahoe: $1,000 reward for missing trophy head stolen from restaurant
RENO, Nev. – There’s a moose on the loose at Lake Tahoe and authorities are offering a $1,000 reward for anyone who finds it.
It’s not a real moose, but a trophy head recently stolen from a restaurant lobby in Tahoe City, California where it’s served as the Sunnyside lodge’s mascot for nearly 30 years.
General manager Don Edelstein says the head weighing nearly 200 pounds with 5-foot-wide antlers was stolen between midnight and 7 a.m. on Jan. 22.
Edelstein estimates it’s worth about $5,000. He told KRNV-TV in Reno (http://tinyurl.com/k2rd4lv ) he immediately posted a plea on Facebook, “Help us find the moose.” But so far, the case of the missing moose remains a mystery.
The Placer County sheriff offered the reward on Wednesday for its safe return. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 800-923-1891.
