Nonstop flights to NYC now operating out of Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. – Tucson International Airport is now offering direct flights to New York City.

TV’s KGUN9 reports (http://bit.ly/2dUQSYJ) that travellers will not have to make a connecting flight to get to New York for the first time in eight years.

American Airlines is providing direct flight service to JFK airport.

The new service is a culmination of efforts by the Tucson Metro Chamber.

The chamber worked with local businesses to raise $3 million as a revenue guarantee for the airline.

Chamber officials also had a hand in making sure there are flight times that accommodate customers who have to catch other connecting flights.
