Westsyde Road collision claims life of 32-year-old Kamloops woman

KAMLOOPS – Slippery winter road conditions led to a fatal collision on Westsyde Road last night.

Two vehicles collided in the 1700 block of the road around 8 p.m. yesterday, Jan. 4, according to Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Cheryl Bush. A vehicle travelling towards Kamloops lost control on a curve and crossed over into the oncoming lane, colliding with a northbound vehicle.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, a 32-year-old female from Kamloops, was transported to Royal Inland Hospital with critical injuries. She has since died from her injuries. The driver of the vehicle travelling north did not suffer any serious injuries.

Investigators, including a collision reconstructionist attended the scene, noted the roads were extremely slippery and it was snowing, Bush says.

RCMP is reminding drivers to adjust their driving during winter road conditions.
