Two teenagers dead in northern B.C. car, truck collide on highway

MACKENZIE, B.C. – Two teenagers have died following a Friday morning collision on a highway in northern British Columbia.

RCMP in Mackenzie say a small car collided with a pickup truck on Highway 97 at Bear Creek Bridge about 200 kilometres north of Prince George.

Police say two 18-year-old men believed to be from the Mackenzie area were pronounced dead at the scene.

The occupants of the pickup truck were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The highway was closed briefly in both directions but re-opened later in the day.

A collision reconstruction expert is on scene to determine the cause of the crash.
