PQ cabinet minister Veronique Hivon steps down because of pregnancy

QUEBEC – Parti Quebecois cabinet minister Veronique Hivon is resigning because she is pregnant.

Hivon has been junior health minister for just a few weeks following the PQ’s election victory in September.

The 42-year-old Hivon has been a member of the national assembly since 2008.

Hivon told a news conference in Quebec City today there are health risks in her pregnancy.
