Saskatoon city council approves motion to call bridge after Gordie Howe
Saskatoon city council has voted in favour of naming one of its bridges after NHL legend Gordie Howe.
Darren Hill tabled a motion Monday to have the Circle Drive South bridge named in honour of Howe, who was born in Saskatchewan.
Howe died earlier this month at the age of 88.
Council will now ask the Howe family for its approval.
Hill says Howe was known for his sports contributions, but he also was a great spokesperson for Saskatoon and always made time to visit.
A rink, football field, campground and sports complex in Saskatoon have previously been named in honour of Howe.
