Most actively traded companies on the TSX

Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (15,392.35, up 87.58 points):

Mega Uranium Ltd. (TSX:MGA). Miner. Up three cents, or 40 per cent, to 10.5 cents on 6.4 million shares.

Connacher Oil and Gas Ltd. (TSX:CLL). Oil and gas. Up half-a-cent, or 25 per cent, to 2.5 cents on 5.9 million shares.

Legacy Oil + Gas Inc. (TSX:LEG). Oil and gas. Up 14 cents, or 5.65 per cent, to $2.62 on 5.22 million shares.

Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp. (TSX:PRE). Oil and gas. Up 17 cents, or 4.84 per cent, to $3.68 on 5.17 million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Up seven cents, or 0.41 per cent, to $17.05 on 4.3 million shares.

Lake Shore Gold Corp. (TSX:LSG). Miner. Down two cents, or 1.87 per cent, to $1.09 on 3.7 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Sears Canada (TSX:SCC). Department stores. Down 16 cents, or 1.68 per cent, to $9.35 on 15,320 shares. The company says it is looking to strip more expenses from its operations this year as it lumbers ahead with a turnaround plan. Meanwhile, Sears says it plans to carry a new line of Wayne Gretzky menswear in an exclusive partnership with the former Canadian hockey star.

TransCanada (TSX:TRP). Oil and gas. Up seven cents, or 0.12 per cent, to $57.15 on 746,424 shares. The energy giant signed a benefit agreement with the Kitselas (KIT’-sell-us) First Nation for its planned 900-kilometre natural gas pipeline across northern B.C.
