Police find stolen vehicles and prolific offenders behind the wheel last week

PENTICTON – If they weren't finding stolen vehicles or responding to crashes, they were finding lawbreakers and prolific offenders behind the wheel this past week.

Police recovered a Ford pickup truck stolen Jan. 4 from a Keremeos address after it was found running in an alley behind Martin Street on Tuesday, Jan. 19. The vehicle had been used in a break and enter at Peacock’s Perch in Summerland. The truck was found with items stolen from that incident inside it.

A prolific offender was arrested on Tuesday night, Jan. 19, after police spotted him driving when he shouldn’t have been. A curfew check on Penticton prolific offender Samuel Prescott Perreault revealed the man to be driving while under prohibited, after his curfew. Police arrested the man, and found him with break-in tools, another breach of conditions. He was also found in possession of stolen property and was held for court on Wednesday, and subsequently released on $1,000 bail.

Police attempted to block a white Pontiac Alero the same night, license plate CA3 66A, on Johnson Road. It got away, but police were able to identify the female driver and are trying to locate her. She is believed to be responsible for a number of break and enters around the city.

On Thursday, Jan. 21, police discovered a 1997 Chevy Blazer, reported stolen from a Kelowna address, on Shingle Creek Road. The vehicle had been torched.

Police responded to calls to a number of motor vehicle collisions after snow and sleet created poor driving conditions in the South Okanagan on Saturday, Jan. 23.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
