Iggy Pop and Bjork headed to Montreal for Red Bull Music Academy event

MONTREAL – Punk rock purveyor Iggy Pop and Icelandic experimentalist Bjork are heading to Montreal this fall as part of the Red Bull Music Academy.

The legendary musicians will join a month-long series of events in the city which celebrate both Canadian and international artists.

Iggy Pop will settle into the Ludger-Duvernay, Canada’s oldest theatre, for an extended conversation about his music career on Sept. 26.

Bjork is expected to swing into the city for two consecutive nights of DJ sets on Oct. 25 and 26.

Those performances will follow a showcase of all five of Bjork’s virtual reality projects and a retrospective of her work as a musician and composer starting Oct. 15. A version of the travelling exhibition has been seen at the Museum of Modern Art and venues in Sydney, Tokyo and London.

French-Canadian pianist Jean-Michel Blais will also collaborate with Grammy-nominated electronic performer CFCF for a live concert (Oct. 5), while there will be a chance to boogie under the mirror ball in tribute to Montreal’s vibrant disco scene (Oct. 21).

The Red Bull Music Academy runs from Sept. 24 to Oct. 28.
