Congressman John Lewis crowd surfs after Colbert interview

NEW YORK – Civil rights leader and U.S. Rep. John Lewis may be 76, but he’s not too old to crowd surf.

The Georgia Democrat wrapped up an interview on Wednesday’s “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” by wading into a sea of audience members who lifted him up and passed him around.

Lewis was part of a crowd surfing epidemic on the show. He was the third guest of the night to crowd surf with Colbert, following actors Christian Slater and Chris Geere.

Lewis was on the program to promote his graphic novel series, “March,” which retells of the civil rights movement from Lewis’s perspective.
