NBC picks up medical dramas ‘Chicago Med,’ ‘Heartbreaker,’ thriller “Blindspot’ for new season

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – NBC plans to add two medical dramas to its schedule next season.

The network said Friday that it’s expanding its “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago P.D.” family with “Chicago Med.” Oliver Platt and S. Epatha Merkerson are among its stars.

The other medical drama is “Heartbreaker,” based on the career of heart-transplant surgeon Kathy Magliato. Melissa George will play the title character, renamed for the series.

NBC also said it’s picked up the drama “Blindspot,” about an international conspiracy involving a woman covered in mysterious tattoos. The cast includes Sullivan Stapleton and Jaimie Alexander.
