Jet clips another on Guyana runway, no injuries reported
GEORGETOWN, Guyana – A Caribbean Airlines Boeing 737 that was landing in Guyana has clipped a stationary jet waiting to take off.
Civil Aviation authority director Egbert Field says no passengers or crew members were injured in the Tuesday accident at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport. Field said the Caribbean Airlines jet had just arrived from New York when its wing clipped a Fly Jamaica Boeing 767 waiting to leave for Toronto, Canada.
Field said the impact dislodged the tail cone of the Fly Jamaica jet. The 737 appeared to sustain less damage but was still being evaluated. Both jets were grounded while authorities investigated what happened and inspected both planes.
