Puerto Rico to issue tests for potential government workers

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Puerto Rico will soon be issuing mandatory tests to those applying for certain government positions in a push to improve public service.

The director of U.S. territory’s Human Resources Administration says the tests were developed by psychologists to determine a person’s skill level and knowledge and to award jobs or promotions based on merit. Harry Vega told reporters on Monday that the test will apply to positions that require a high school degree at a minimum.

The tests will be issued starting on Thursday.
