SALMON ARM – Police took precautions to preserve public and police safety during an incident in a small Shuswap community Thursday.
The incident came in as a report of a family disturbance in Canoe Feb. 11, Sgt. Scott West says in a media release.
“In preserving public and police safety an area of Canoe was blocked off to vehicle and pedestrian traffic as police negotiated the peaceful surrender of a 49-year-old male,” West says.
The man was taken into custody around 4:30 p.m. and was taken to Shuswap Lake General Hospital. He was later held in custody as the investigation continued.
As of Friday morning, Feb. 12, the man was released without charges. Police continue to investigate.
