Caeli McKay and Maxim Bouchard crowned Canadian diving champions

VICTORIA – Caeli McKay won her second gold at the Canadian summer nationals on Saturday with a win in the women’s one-metre diving competition.

The Calgary native scored 262.80 points on her dive to finish first. Melissa Citrini-Beaulieu of St-Constant, Que., was second at 259.80 and Montreal’s Eloise Belanger was third at 242.05.

The finish was the same as in Friday’s three-metre dives.

Maxim Bouchard of St-Constant, Que., captured the men’s 10-metre with a convincing 476.15 points. Montreal’s Philippe Gagne was second at 417.00 and Vincent Riendeau of Pointe-Claire, Que., was third at 400.90

It was Bouchard’s first competition since a foot injury sidelined him last month.

“It was a big confidence boost for me to come back with this kind of performance,” said Bouchard. “I was able to dive without making too many adjustments.”
