DALLAS – Authorities say they’re treating a suspicious item found outside Dallas police headquarters as a hoax bomb.
Officials say the item was a bottle containing a liquid later determined to be water. A note was attached. Authorities declined to say what it said.
Assistant Police Chief Randy Blankenbaker says the note was attached in a way that “caused even further suspicion.”
The discovery of the bottle Monday morning prompted the evacuation of a portion of Dallas police headquarters and closed nearby streets before authorities determined it was harmless.
It was found near an entrance to the building. A hazardous materials team removed it.
