Spooner and Wakefield score two goals apiece as Canada crushes Sweden 9-0

TIKKURILA, Finland – Canada closed out round-robin play at the Four Nations Cup women’s hockey tournament today with a 9-0 rout of Sweden.

Canada locked up a berth in Saturday’s final with the win.

Natalie Spooner and Jennifer Wakefield scored two goals apiece and Shannon Szabados earned the shutout.

Canada will next play the winner of the late game between the United States and host Finland.

Canada last won the Four Nations Cup in 2010, defeating the Americans 3-2 in overtime.

The United States beat Canada 4-3 in a shootout in last year’s final in Sweden.
