Police seek witnesses after Surrey, B.C., taxi driver attacked with knife

SURREY, B.C. – Police are searching for a suspect after a taxi driver was stabbed and robbed in Surrey, B.C.

RCMP say the male cab driver in his 50s picked up a man at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

Mounties say the passenger then assaulted the driver and stabbed him in the arm and hand with a knife.

Officers say the driver was robbed of his wallet, cash and cellphone before the suspect got out of the vehicle and ran away.

The driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

Investigators are asking anyone who saw the attack to call RCMP.
