Another big lottery win in the Okanagan: $5M ticket sold in Vernon

VERNON – Two winning lottery tickets sold in the Okanagan have claimed millions of dollars in lottery jackpot winnings this weekend.

There is one winning ticket for the $5 million jackpot in last night’s, April 9, Lotto 649 draw, and it was sold in Vernon.

On Friday night, a Lotto Max ticket sold in Kelowna was the winner of the $50 million jackpot.

The winners have 52 weeks from the draw date to come forward and claim their prizes, according to the B.C. Lottery Corporation.

The names of the winners and exactly where they bought the tickets won’t be released until they come forward to claim their prizes.

The Okanagan is a lucky place to by lottery tickets this year. Robert Goertzen of Kelowna won about $22 million in a Lotto 649 draw in February.

The grand prize for the next 649 draw on April 13 will again be approximately $5 million.
