School is out for one more day at Enderby’s high school

ENDERBY – A suspicious fire in a washroom at the high school in Enderby means no school tomorrow for students.

Fire broke out in a washroom at A.L. Fortune Secondary School on Friday afternoon, April 8, forcing an evacuation of the school and an end to classes for the day.

The small fire may have been deliberately set and the investigation into the cause has been turned over to the RCMP, according to a Global Okanagan report.

Classes at the high school have been cancelled Monday, April 11, as a restoration crew continues to “clean air ducts and all affected surfaces to ensure the school is safe for students and staff,” a post on the school’s Facebook page says.

It is expected A.L. Fortune will reopen on Tuesday.
