VICTORIA – The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Victoria Royals 4-1 on Friday night at the Save-On-Memorial Arena in Victoria, grabbing a 3-2 series lead over the Royals.
The Rockets scored three times in the third period to snap a 1-1 tie, winning its third game in a row in the series with game six set for Sunday in Kelowna.
Rourke Chartier scored twice and Michael Herringer stopped 28 of 29 shots he faced, including 10 in the first period when the Rockets were outshot 10-2 in the period.
Tyson Baillie and Justin Kirkland scored third period goals 1:08 apart to give the Rockets a 3-1 lead before Chartier cemented the win with an empty-netter.
Game six in the series is Sunday at 5:05 p.m. at Prospera Place.
