MONTREAL – Police say a Quebec couple who were reported missing in the northeastern United States have been found safe and sound today in a popular Maine vacation spot.
Denis Blouin and Jocelyne Savoie, both in their 60s, were found sitting on Old Orchard Beach by fellow tourists.
Laval police say their son’s social media pleas to help find his parents were brought to the attention of other Quebecers vacationing in Maine.
Const. Franco Di Genova says those vacationers recognized the couple’s car parked at a motel and an employee told them to check the beach.
The vacationers walked up and down the beach, eventually finding the couple and imploring them to call home.
Youann Blouin hadn’t heard from his parents since Sunday and was very concerned for their well-being.
Di Genova says it turns out the couple had their phones off and it was all a misunderstanding.
