Giuliana Rancic stepping away from daily anchoring at E! but sticking with network

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Giuliana Rancic (RAN’-sihk) is making a change in her duties at the E! channel.

E! said Rancic will step away from her daily news anchor position on Aug. 10, but will continue to host red carpet coverage and “Fashion Police.”

The 40-year-old was criticized earlier this year for comments she made on “Fashion Police” about biracial teen actress Zendaya’s dreadlocks. Rancic joked the hairstyle suggested the smell of patchouli oil or marijuana.

Zendaya took to social media to say Rancic’s remarks were offensive. Rancic apologized, saying the experience taught her not to perpetuate cliches and stereotypes.

“Fashion Police” co-host Kelly Osbourne also criticized the comments and left shortly after, followed by Kathy Griffin, who said the show didn’t fit her kind of comedy.

Rancic said she plans to focus more on her clothing lines, wine and producing.
