Canada advances to Americas U16 women’s basketball semifinals
AYSEN, Chile – Avianna Thompson led all scorers with 13 points as Canada defeated El Salvador 61-15 Thursday to advance to the semifinals at the 2019 FIBA U16 Women’s Americas basketball championship.
With the victory, Canada also qualifies for next summer’s FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup 2020.
Tara Wallack added 11 points for Canada, while Teah Stupar grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
Rebeca Roque scored six points in the loss for El Salvador.
Canada will face either Ecuador or Chile in Friday’s semifinals.
