Aide’s gun lawsuit against Trump campaign official dropped

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A civil lawsuit for alleged assault filed against the North Carolina campaign director for now-President Donald Trump’s 2016 bid has been dismissed.

Campaign worker Vincent Bordini sued Earl Phillip in August 2016, saying Phillip had pulled out a loaded pistol and placed the barrel on Bardini’s knee cap. He said nothing was done upon reporting the incident to then-campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and other Trump campaign officials.

The Charlotte Observer reported Monday the lawsuit was dismissed this month without prejudice, meaning the court didn’t rule on the case’s merits. On Friday, Phillip said the incident never happened. He had resigned after the lawsuit’s filing.

Bordini said in a statement the parties had resolved difference without compensation and said he hoped Phillip could “continue his promising career for the Republican cause.”
