Las Vegas tourist agency severs ties with embattled ex-chief
LAS VEGAS – The government agency that promotes Las Vegas tourism has severed ties with its retired chief executive, who faces criminal allegations including theft of airline gift cards purchased with tax dollars.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority informed Rossi Ralenkotter on Friday that his $15,000-a-month consulting contract was terminated.
The board chairman, Clark County Commissioner Larry Brown, said Ralenkotter’s successor, Steve Hill, took the action after consulting with four board executive committee members.
Ralenkotter’s attorney, Terry Coffing, declined to comment.
The board approved an 18-month contract with Ralenkotter in August 2018 as part of his $455,000 retirement package.
Ralenkotter, two other former authority officials and a Southwest Airlines executive face criminal misconduct theft and other charges over allegations they misused $90,000 in airline gift cards.
