Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan renews Caribbean tour on island of Grenada

ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada – Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan has revived a Caribbean tour on the island of Grenada.

Farrakhan was meeting Grenada’s acting Prime Minister Nazim Burke on Thursday. He arrived on the island late Wednesday and will be the main speaker at a weekend forum.

Regional Nation of Islam representatives say the visits are an extension of a regional tour launched last year when Farrakhan spoke on themes of black nationalism and religion during stops in Jamaica, Trinidad, Antigua and other islands.

The Chicago-based Nation of Islam has espoused black nationalism and self-reliance since it was founded in Detroit in the 1930s.

Farrakhan is scheduled to visit Barbados, Dominica, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Belize, and the Bahamas in coming days.
