Bauer Hockey to open its first Canadian superstore next year in Vaughan, Ont.

TORONTO – Bauer Hockey is bringing its superstore format to Canada.

The company says the Own the Moment store will feature an indoor, 3,200 square-foot ice rink.

The 24,000 square-foot store in Vaughan, Ont., north of Toronto, will be the first outside the United States, where Bauer has locations in the Boston suburb of Burlington, Mass., and near Minneapolis, in Bloomington, Minn.

Bauer is primarily a manufacturer of hockey equipment, and a cornerstone of Performance Sports Group (TSX:PSG), which also owns various brands of equipment for lacrosse, baseball and softball.

The company — which primarily sells its equipment through retailers such as Canadian Tire and Sport Chek — says it plans to open up to 10 Own the Moment locations across North America.

The Vaughan store is scheduled to open in the summer of 2017.
