Man arrested in homicide investigation after P.E.I. man dies in St. Lucia

CHARLOTTETOWN – Police on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia have arrested a man in connection with the death of a 75-year-old Prince Edward Island man.

Cpl. Aniel Innocent, spokeswoman for the Royal St. Lucia Police Force, says in an email today that “a male individual has been arrested” in relation to the alleged homicide of Colin Peter of Guernsey Cove.

Peter’s son, Andrew Peter, has said his father was attacked and robbed while walking on a beach on the island last Thursday.

He said police told him his father was knocked down and hit with a stick over the head, and later succumbed to his injuries.

Andrew Peter has also said his mother Gwen is receiving treatment at the Victoria Hospital in Castries, the capital city of the island nation.

The family was in St. Lucia this weekend for a cremation and a private funeral.
