Clark announces another $1 million for Westside Road

WEST KELOWNA – With less than 24 hours under her belt as MLA for Westside-Kelowna, Premier Christy Clark announced the province will be adding $1 million to paving work on 'B.C.'s most dangerous' Westside Road.

"Westside Road serves a number of the Okanagan's most popular resorts and campgrounds, as well as over a thousand residents," Clark said. "It's not acceptable to have it named B.C.'s worst road. With over $6.5 million in improvements this year, we're going to continue to invest in Westside Road, and make it safer for everyone."

Work will begin later this month with about 5 km of intermittent paving being laid down over a 15 km stretch between Jenny Creek and Caesar's Landing. The $1 million project will be in addition to $5 million for work already underway.

In a previous announcement, $650,000 was pledged for 4 km paving work between Caesar's Landing and Nahun. This new announcement brings the total length of paving to 9 km.

There is also $3 million going toward improving lane and shoulder widths and to realign a 500 m section of Westside Road from Blue Grouse to Jenny Creek that is nearly complete.
