Person of interest in Toronto teen’s death in Jamaica turns himself in: police

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaican police say a person of interest in the death of a 14-year-old Toronto boy has turned himself in.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force says Omar James, 19, turned himself in at the Hunts Bay police station Monday night.

Ricardo Williams was shot several times early Sunday near Kingston while attending a wake and was taken to hospital where he later died.

Insp. Dahlia Garrick says police are interviewing James today and that no charges have been laid.

She says Williams was visiting family while vacationing in Jamaica when he was shot and was to return to Canada this week.

Garrick says Williams and James knew each other, but wouldn’t elaborate.
