Official: NATO decides to send Patriot air defences to Turkey’s border with Syria

BRUSSELS – A NATO official says the military alliance has approved plans to send Patriot anti-missile systems to southern Turkey to bolster its defence against strikes from neighbouring Syria.

NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen was expected to make the announcement later Tuesday.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to speak publicly on the matter.
