Katy Perry had goose bumps and Lionel Ritchie was inspired following a 17-year-old Vancouver high school student's American Idol audition that aired this past weekend.

Tyson Venegas covered Billy Joel's New York State of Mind and the judges were so impressed he earned a coveted platinum ticket.

"You are exactly what we look for and what we pray for," Luke Bryan said.
