Vernon RCMP release sketch of attempted child luring suspect
Police have issued a sketch of a suspect who tried to pick up a child at a Vernon elementary school last month.
Vernon RCMP say a man in a brown station wagon tried to convince a child to get inside, even offering "a gift," according to a news release.
The suspect fled the area as the child's parent approached his vehicle.
The incident was on the 4200 block of 35 Ave around 8 a.m., May 9, according to Vernon North Okanagan RCMP.
"In support of our ongoing investigation, an RCMP forensic sketch artist has compiled a composite sketch of the suspect," spokesperson Const. Chris Terleski said in the news release.
He's described as a Caucasian man, around 40 to 50 years old. He had short facial hair with light brown clothing.
"We are releasing the image to the public with the hope someone will either recognize this person or be able to provide us with information that will assist us in furthering our investigation," Terleski said.
Anyone who has any information about this incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at (250) 545-7171 and quote file # 2023-7313.
