Time served for theft and crash of Kamloops cab

A man who pleaded guilty to stealing a cab in Kamloops will spend the next 12 months on probation.

Bradley James Venn, born in 2002, pleaded guilty to robbery and dangerous driving earlier this year and was sentenced in Kamloops Provincial Court last week.

He was accused of threatening a cab driver with a weapon before stealing the vehicle on Fortune Drive in August.

Kamloops RCMP tracked him down, but he fled the traffic stop at high speed before crashing into two other vehicles and flipping the cab. He then fled on foot before he was arrested.

Venn was sentenced to 504 days in prison for the robbery and 12 months for dangerous driving, July 6, both served concurrently, according to BC Prosecution Service spokesperson Daniel McLaughlin.

However, he already served 336 days in custody and he was credited time-and-a-half, meaning he's already served his sentence.

Venn is no longer in custody, but he'll be on probation for 12 months.
