VANCOUVER – The victim of Vancouver’s second homicide of 2020 has been identified but police say no arrests have been made.
A statement from the Vancouver Police Department identifies 31-year-old Mathieu Flynn of Richmond as the man found dead Saturday in a parking lot in south Vancouver.
Investigators have not said how Flynn died or elaborated on initial comments that his death appeared targeted, but Const. Tania Visintin says the department does not believe there is any risk to the public.
She says detectives are appealing for dashcam video or photos taken from vehicles, such as a Tesla that was spotted nearby which is equipped with factory-installed video surveillance.
The weekend slaying was one of two in Vancouver over the weekend, although officers have said there’s no indication of a connection.
A 45-year-old woman was found dead inside a suite in the city’s Gastown neighbourhood early Sunday, but investigators have released few other details about that death.
