Toronto Symphony Orchestra dedicates song to Blue Jays before ALDS Game 5 win

TORONTO – Even the Toronto Symphony Orchestra is getting on the Blue Jays’ bandwagon.

The TSO posted a video on their YouTube channel last week, wishing Toronto’s team luck hours before their American League Division Series victory over the Texas Rangers.

Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke and the rest of the TSO put on Blue Jays caps to the applause of the crowd and performed a rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “It Had To Be You” with vocalist Frankie Moreno, who walked on stage wearing a blue Blue Jays jersey and cap.

“We want to say congratulations and good luck to the Blue Jays,” Reinke says in the video before the song begins.

Moreno opened his performance by “stirring the pot” — a celebratory gesture used by the Blue Jays when a hitter reaches base or advances a runner.

The song was the opening number from the TSO’s matinee tribute to Sinatra on Wednesday.

Toronto beat the Rangers 6-3 in Game 5 of the ALDS later that day to advance to the American League Championship Series against the Kansas City Royals.
